Hi, Tudor:

Did you have a comment regarding Romans 11:26? I have embraced the position that "all Israel" best referred to the entirety of God's people, both Jew and Gentile. Yet, I had also considered this as a reference to all of God's elect from within etnic Israel throughout time.

Yet,I don't necessarily know to identify an ethnic Jew at the present time, compared with the Israel/Jew we read about in Scripture.

I was impressed with the reference to "all Israel" as found in Romans 9:6, speaking about the true Jew, spiritually (which appears to include all who are in Christ). Could you kindly assist me with this? Thanks so much.

Hi John, I believe if we read Romans 11 in context of all of Romans, as well as of Paul's writings in general, we can ascertain a few things:

1. Romans 11 is not talking about a future revival of the Jews

2. Romans 11 is saying the Jews have not been discarded by God, because there are elect within the Jewish community

3. Romans 11 is saying that God's plan was for the Jews to reject Jesus, so that the gospel could go to the nations

4. Romans 11 is saying that it was also God's plan that the elect Jews would become jealous of the Christians and repent

Now when we consider all these 4 points, Romans 11:26 means "in this way all Israel will be saved" as in "in this way the spiritual conglomerate of Jews and Gentiles, which we call Israel or true Israel or the Israel of faith, will come to the gospel."
