We tend to think of God as a bigger and smarter and stronger version of us, but only when we consider His divine attributes does reality actually sink in. Important doctrines like inseparability (that God isn't made of anything or smaller parts like we are), omniscience, omnipotence, self-existence and creating ex nihilo (out of nothing) are all totally confounding truths.
These things fly in the face of all that we understand about the world, and yet the world we understand completely depends on God.
The last one, making something from nothing, breaks every rule of physics, chemistry, biology — rendering all of our scientific understanding totally meaningless. God speaks and things come to be. This is what actually determines whether things exist. But if this is ultimate reality then what we know about reality is ultimately meaningless if we do not know God, because our own being depends completely on His words just as the bible says (Hebrews 1, other places).
It is such a profound truth that it calls to mind the famous line from the movie A Few Good Men: "You can't handle the truth!"
